It's useful for turning a simple logo or icon photo into a scalable vector you can resize infinitely, though it works best on simple, high-contrast images rather than complex photographs.

It works best on simple graphics like logos, icons, and line art with distinct color regions. Complex photographs with lots of gradients and fine detail produce much larger, messier SVGs and rarely look as clean as the original.
They control how closely the traced vector follows the original image's edges (higher detail = more precise but more complex paths) and how much the resulting shapes are smoothed out, trading exactness for a cleaner, simpler vector.
