Upscaling enlarges an image (2x or 4x its original size) using smooth multi-pass resampling to keep the result looking as clean as possible, rather than the blurry, blocky result you'd get from simply stretching an image. It's useful for enlarging a smaller photo for printing, or preparing a low-resolution image for use somewhere that needs bigger dimensions.

Frequently asked questions

No upscaling method truly invents detail that was never captured - this tool uses smooth resampling to enlarge the image while minimizing blockiness/blur as much as possible, but it can't recover information the original photo never had.

Common options are 2x and 4x the original dimensions - beyond that, the visible softening from stretching becomes more noticeable regardless of resampling quality.

It can make a small image usable at a larger size without harsh pixelation, but it won't sharpen or fix blur that was already present in the source photo.
